About me
Irina Fogele
I am Irina Fogele (born 1980), a contemporary artist from Latvia. My practice explores the effects of digitalisation on people as social and psychological beings: disconnection from reality, loneliness, anxiety, emotional isolation and changing relationships. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, I combine recognisable everyday imagery with elements of absurdity and surrealism.
Artistic practice
I am interested in the moment when the digital world stops being an external tool and enters our inner lives. Everyday situations, urban spaces and anthropomorphic figures let me approach these processes through metaphor. As digital reality becomes part of everyday life, where is the boundary between what we experience and what we only perceive through a screen?
